Sealed product deals: booster boxes, bundles and precons, now tracked
Published
Ask anyone who has tried to buy a booster box on eBay at a sensible price and you will hear the same story. Prices jump around by the week, the good listings vanish in minutes, and the only way to know whether a price is fair is to keep a dozen tabs open and a spreadsheet nobody wants to maintain. That is exactly the problem we built Cardboard Deals to solve for singles, so we have extended it to sealed product.
As of this week, the deal finder watches booster boxes, bundles, Commander precon decks, prerelease kits and starter kits on eBay UK and eBay US, alongside every single card it already tracked.
How it works
Every sealed listing is identified as a specific product: a Foundations Play Booster Box is not a Foundations Collector Booster Box, and a Commander precon is matched to the exact deck, not just the set. Each product carries a live market reference price that updates daily, so a listing can be judged against what the product is actually worth today rather than against a guess.
When a listing sits meaningfully below that reference, it becomes a deal. Sealed deals land in the same places single-card deals do:
- The app feed, in real time, with a Sealed section of its own.
- The website feed, on the usual short delay, under "Sealed product".
- Discord, in two new channels: #mtg-sealed-uk and #mtg-sealed-us. Join at cardboarddeals.com/community or add the feed to your own server.
What we deliberately leave out
Sealed is where the junk lives, so the matching is strict on purpose. Empty boxes, opened product, display cases and deck boxes, foreign-language editions, printed proxy decks and precons that have been upgraded or modified never become deals. A listing that names a single card from a precon is treated as a single, not the deck. If a box does not name its set, we would rather miss it than price it against the wrong product.
We also start with the products people actually hunt for. Single booster packs and Secret Lair drops are not in this first release, and neither are multi-deck bundles.
Custom alerts for sealed
Premium members can now add a Sealed products rule in the app: every sealed deal, or only one set's, at whatever discount threshold you choose, delivered as a push notification the moment it appears. Existing "Any card" rules are unchanged and will not start firing on boxes.
Get it
The app is free on iOS and Android, the Discord channels are free, and the web feed is right on the home page. If you spot a sealed deal we got wrong, the report button on the deal page goes straight to us.
