What's new in Cardboard Deals: sealed products, collection insights and smarter deal filters

Published

The biggest update since launch is live on both stores. If your phone updates apps automatically you already have it; if not, the App Store or Google Play will offer version 0.6.29. Here is what changed and why.

Sealed products, everywhere

Booster boxes, bundles, play and collector packs, Commander precons, prerelease kits and Secret Lair drops are now first-class citizens in the app, not just in the deal feed.

  • Search sealed. The Search tab and the add-to-collection sheet have a Cards | Sealed switch. Type "foundations" on the sealed side and you get the bundle, the beginner box, the prerelease pack and the collector booster box, each with its own page and guide price.
  • Sealed in your collection. Add a box or a bundle and it is valued alongside your singles, with All, Singles and Sealed filters on the list.
  • Set pages show the set's sealed products next to its cards.
  • Deal rules can target sealed, for one set or all of them, so a rule for "Foundations sealed, 20% below" is one tap away.
  • Home has a Sealed deals strip and a Popular sealed strip, and the Deals tab can show singles only or sealed only.

If you missed the background, the sealed launch post explains how boxes are priced and why a 50% off booster box is usually not a deal.

Your collection, honestly valued

  • Market value chart. The headline chart now shows how the cards you own today have moved over one month, three months or the past year. Adding a card no longer reads as a gain, because the chart holds the set of cards constant and only the market moves it.
  • Paid, worth and gain on every card. Each row shows what you paid, what it is worth now and the difference, with sold cards showing their sale price.
  • Sort and group. Sort by recently added, purchase date, name or value in either direction, or group by set with each set's card count and subtotal, then sort the sets by release, value, name or most recently added.
  • Insights gains top movers, where the value sits by set, your best flip, and a spend-versus-value chart that is net of what you have sold.

The collection post covers how valuation works if you want the detail.

Deals you can filter properly

  • Buy It Now or auctions. The filter sheet now has a format section, and under auctions an "ending within" choice of 6, 12 or 24 hours for people who like a closing bid.
  • Filters are remembered between sessions, market included.
  • The Biggest Score pick is Buy It Now only and prefers deals benchmarked against market prices, so the card at the top of the feed is one you can actually buy at that price.

Refer a friend, properly wired

A friend can now enter your code when they create their account, or later from Refer a friend → Got a code? You get a notification when they join and at every step of a free month. Premium members earn a month for every friend who stays subscribed for two months, as the referral post describes.

Smaller things you will notice

  • "Did you buy this?" After you buy a deal through the app, a prompt lands in your inbox the next morning. Yes adds the card to your collection with the price you paid.
  • Links open the app. Tap a cardboarddeals.com card, set or deal link anywhere on your phone and it opens in the app rather than the browser.
  • Email preferences. Settings → Email preferences lets you choose the weekly summary, refer-a-friend updates, both or neither. Sign-in codes always arrive.
  • Card pages. Graded bands show their realised sale prices and the sold median where no reference price exists, and price history charts follow the printing you pick.
